Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools is proud to offer students the opportunity to take one or more online high school v-courses while enrolled at their zoned schools or to enroll on a full-time basis with Virtual School and earn their high school diploma completely online. Our school is the first public virtual school in the state and the leading virtual schooling option for students. Moreover, our school is the first virtual school in the world to adopt the Academies Model offering career and academic themes to v-students in a highly personalized virtual learning community!
v-Learners are taught by highly qualified, certified MNPS v-teacher-scholars. To deliver instruction, v-teachers facilitate teaching and learning virtually via the district’s learning management system (LMS) and other innovative instructional technologies. All v-courses are accredited and approved by the Tennessee Department of Education and State Board of Education. Part and full-time enrollment allows a v-student the opportunity to complete core v-courses needed to earn a high school diploma. Additionally, Virtual School offers unique elective options via The Virtual Academy of Business & Marketing and CollegeBoard approved Advanced Placement (AP) v-courses, as well as advanced credit for eligible middle school students. Moreover, eligible v-students are able to take college v-courses through a partnership with Nashville State Community College. As a public school, Virtual School falls under the accountability system for Tennessee schools thereby being responsible for raising overall achievement and closing gaps between student subgroups. Virtual School also participates in the school improvement planning (SIP) process ensuring a culture of continuous improvement. Additionally, all virtual credits obtained at Virtual School transfer to ANY MNPS high school for graduation purposes.
v-Courses are free for MNPS students meeting the eligibility requirements with learners able to enroll on either a full or part-time basis. Additionally, enrollment for out-of-county students is offered based on availability.
