About Mr. Van Hawk:
Mr. Van Hawk is a native of Tennessee. He grew up in East Tennessee in the city of Kingsport. Upon graduating from Sullivan Central High School, Mr. Hawk enrolled at East Tennessee State University (ETSU) in Johnson City, Tennessee, majoring in Business with a concentration in Economics. Mr. Hawk received an award honoring him for being the top Economics student in his graduating class. Mr. Hawk was also a member of two honor societies, Omicron Delta Epsilon and Sigma Alpha Lambda.
While completing his Masters Degree in Business Administration, at East Tennessee State University (ETSU), Mr. Hawk tutored other students that needed help in Economics. He went on to teach Microeconomics and Macroeconomics for the College of Business. During that time, Mr. Hawk also developed online Economics and Business courses for the university.
After relocating with his wife and children to Middle Tennessee, Mr. Hawk decided to return to college to earn a teaching license. Mr. Hawk has taught Economics, History, World History, and Personal Finance in Davidson, Rutherford, and Williamson counties before finding his dream job with MNPS Virtual School.
In his free time, Mr. Hawk is an excellent cook and, according to his family and friends, makes the best pizza in the world!
