NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE. MNPS Virtual School is pleased to announce our 2021 Salutatorian—Joseph Perez! Dr. Kelby Garner, Executive Principal, notes, "Joseph is truly one of a kind. He is intelligent, friendly, and respectful. We are all enormously proud of Joseph and his achievements."J. Perez

Upon graduating from MNPS Virtual School, Joseph Perez is planning to enroll at The University of Pittsburg and major in Cyber Security. Joesph's hobbies include gardening, foraging, exploration, exercise, kayaking/canoeing, drawing, painting, pottery, sculpture, woodwork, stonework, metalwork/blacksmithing, survival/sandbox games.

When asked, what advice would you give to other MNPS Virtual School students? Joseph shared, "Accept that failure will happen and use it as a learning experience; develop good time management skills and discipline to do work; reward yourself for diligent efforts and improvement, and always ask for help if you're stuck on work or having problems."

Joseph realizes the success he is experiencing is not due to his accomplishments but also from family support. Joseph shared, "I'm grateful for my parents, Elizabeth and Philip, who have been very influential and helpful throughout life, especially through their patience, encouragement, and concern. I'm also grateful for my teachers, counselors, relatives, friends, and certain peers, for practicing the same qualities - among others - as well as for helping me through the challenges faced in school. I'm also thankful for Mrs. McNew, Mr. Hawk, Dr. Garner, Mr. Luther, Mrs. April and Mrs. Cate from Hillsboro, and Mrs. Guss from Bellevue Middle, and most of my teachers, as they've all helped me through tough times, fostered my education, and inspired me to pursue higher academics and career pathways."

MNPS Virtual School's 10th Annual Graduation Ceremony and Gala will be held on Tuesday, May 25, 2021. The ceremony will begin at 1:00 PM in the Sadler Auditorium at The Cohn School to celebrate the accomplishment of Joseph and all our MNPS Virtual School graduates.
