Our School
Flexibility With Purpose
MNPS Virtual School offers middle and high school students a different way to learn—one that recognizes the traditional school day doesn’t work for everyone. Our flexible online environment gives students the opportunity to learn from home or wherever they work best, manage their time and take greater ownership of their education.
For some students, that flexibility makes it possible to pursue interests and opportunities outside of school. For others, it provides an environment where they can focus and thrive. Whatever brings students to Virtual School, the goal is the same: helping them succeed academically while building the skills and confidence to move forward.
Flexibility Builds Independence

Students learn in different ways. Some classes meet live online, giving students regular opportunities to learn with their teachers and classmates (synchronous). Other coursework allows students to work on their own schedule and at their own pace (asynchronous). Small class sizes and personalized support help students stay connected, while in-person learning days, field trips and school activities provide additional opportunities to learn and build relationships.
Students are Known and Supported

Independence doesn’t mean going it alone. Behind every student is a team of teachers and staff who pay attention, build relationships and are there when help is needed.
Teachers offer office hours and individual support, while regular academic check-ins help students stay connected and make progress. Additional support is available virtually and through in-person learning days, giving students opportunities to work directly with teachers and get help with assignments or technology.
Connection Matters

Virtual learning may happen at a distance, but students are still part of a school community.
Throughout the year, students have opportunities to come together for in-person learning, field trips, college visits, celebrations, prom, field day, graduation and other activities. Students can also participate in athletics and extracurricular activities through their zoned schools. Together, these experiences help students build friendships, strengthen relationships and feel connected to a community beyond the screen.
Ready for College and Career

The way we learn and work is changing. Being prepared for the future means knowing how to manage your time, work independently, communicate clearly, collaborate with others and adapt to different environments.
At MNPS Virtual School, students practice those skills every day—learning to work successfully in a virtual environment while in-person experiences build confidence connecting and collaborating face to face.
Whether the next step is a college classroom, an in-person workplace, a remote career or something in between, students are prepared to navigate what comes next with independence, adaptability and confidence.
