About Julia Parker:

I have a long history of working within the Special Education/Exceptional Education System. On May 17, 2017, I retired from Metro Nashville Public Schools after forty-three (43) years of working. I had 21 years in the classroom and 22 years working in the Exceptional Education Office with Metro Schools as a Consultant, Itinerant, Facilitator, and Coach. Different job titles, but same responsibilities. After three years of retirement, I was asked by Dr. Garner, Executive Principal of MNPS Virtual School, to take on a short-term assignment with the Virtual School as an Exceptional Education teacher. That short-term assignment has continued to the present.

I teach because I love children, and most importantly believe that with the appropriate supports, resources, guidance, and caring staff all children can succeed. Every child deserves to be their best.

I am truly excited about working with the Virtual School in a different capacity. I love working with the students, the parents, and with the school staff and administrators.

My Promises to You, My Students:

  • I promise to be always committed to doing what’s in my student’s best interest.
  • I promise to be positive and caring in all my interactions.
  • I promise to be patient.
  • I promise to be flexible in my instruction.
  • I promise to be reliable to the student and parent.
  • I promise to be fair.
